Phantom vs Solflare: Which Solana Wallet Should You Use?
Some links are affiliate links: if you sign up through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Not financial advice.
Both are free, self-custody wallets: you hold the keys, and nobody can freeze or recover your account. Either is a good choice. The difference is mostly what else you want the wallet to do.

What’s actually the same
- Security model. Both store your keys encrypted on your device. Your seed phrase is the only backup in both.
- Your address works in both. You can import the same seed phrase into either wallet and see the same SOL.
- Fees. Network fees are set by Solana, not the wallet. Swaps inside either wallet include a small service fee on top of the swap price.
Can I use both?
Yes. Many people use Phantom day to day and keep long-term SOL staked with a hardware wallet connected to Solflare. Just never type your seed phrase anywhere except the official app.
